HK360Swim

is a 45km swim circumnavigation of Hong Kong Island. First conceived in 2016 by Shu Pu, the vision for HK360Swim is to be recognizable worldwide as the signature swim challenge for Hong Kong, similar to the “English Channel Swim” for England or the 20 Bridges Swim for New York City.

Swimmers of HK360Swim experience a seamless process that enables participants from around the globe to take on this exceedingly gorgeous swim around one of the most iconic cities in Asia. Simultaneously, HK360Swim encourages swimmers to make their effort count towards a cause through raising awareness and fundraising for charities that are most dear to them.

HK360Swim starts near Kennedy Town at the Sai Wan Swimming Shed, which opened in the 1960s and is the only swimming shed in Hong Kong still open to the public. The swim continues clockwise through Victoria Harbour, past the eastern tip of the island near Shek O, and continues to the south side past Stanley and Ap Lei Chau, before finishing back in Sai Wan. The course can be extremely challenging with strong currents, harbour traffic and choppy seas; yet it also showcases Hong Kong Island’s stunning coastline.

The inaugural HK360Swim held in November 2017 helped Simon Holliday set a new world record of 12 hours 34 minutes, and raised over HK$1.1 million for charity. The previous record was set in 1976 by Australian Olympic swimmer Linda McGill who finished the swim in just over 17 hours.  The current SOLO record is 10 hours 43 minutes 6 seconds, set by Alex Fong in 2019.

Upcoming HK360Swims:

On November 7, 2020, extreme endurance triathlete Mayank Vaid will become the 4th SOLO swimmer ever to swim around Hong Kong Island and the first athlete to complete the HK360Xtreme challenge (360 kilometre).

Mayank is raising money for Ocean Recovery Alliance, Inspiring Hong Kong Sports Foundation and Outward Bound Hong Kong.

Shu holds the world record of solo circumnavigation of Lantau Island (80km) on an outrigger canoe.  She’s also the first woman to ever paddle across the Pearl River Delta from Hong Kong to Macau.  Shu also represents Hong Kong at Asian Master’s Fencing Championships and had brought home medals for both individual and team Sabre.

To quote a friend, “Shu is a big dreamer like many, but among the very few big do-ers!”
